The Inkey List's First Birthday!
Ever since The Inkey List launched in the United Sates this past June I have been obsessed by this super affordable and effective brand of skincare. This UK based company seems to be a break out brand this year by attracting fans through minimalist packaging, buzz worthy ingredients and a social presence that can't be bought. In the brands first year they have already broken into the global market; able to be found in 29 countries and over 2000+ stores worldwide!! This crazy growth is hard to find and not easily replicated.
From years of trying products at all different price points, I have learned that products that actually work don't have to cost an arm and leg. Good products work not based on the price but based on the formulation. The Inkey List features some of the best skincare ingredients to be found, like collagen, vitamin c and retinol, for prices that are awe worthy. Nothing in the entire line is over $15.
At the NYC launch event the founders, Mark Curry and Colette Newberry, talked about how they have been able to achieve this. By going straight to the source, no middleman in sight, they are able to source ingredients for pennies on the dollar compared to other brands. Without the ingredient markup they are able to sell these products very reasonably priced in the retail market.
I was lucky enough to attend their launch party and speak to a brand representative that brought me through the entire line of over 20 products. I got to go home with about half the line to try out, I picked out products that really spoke to me and products that will work well with my skin type. Here are the few products that really speak to me:
Caffeine Eye Cream ($9.99)
This lightweight eye cream hydrates the area around your eyes effortlessly. I have noticed less puffiness and dark circles when I use this. It also claims to reduce the appearance of fine lines, I can't really speak on that but I do love how much more hydrated and awake that area will look when I use this. The tube is the perfect packaging for this type of product. It is super easy to get the perfect bead sized amount for each eye, I'm never using too much! I've heard that in the next few weeks The Inkey List will be launching a new eye cream and I can't wait to try out another from the brand! hopefully its as awesome as the original.
Polyglutamic Acid ($14.99)
This serum-ish product is the perfect way to give your skin a hydration boost. It is said to be 4x more potent then hyaluronic acid, and I kind of have to agree with that. Besides giving yourself a hydration revival you will have noticeably plumper skin that will minimize the appearance of fine lines. The best part of this product is that it doesn't leave any oily residue on your skin at all so I would recommend this product for all skin types. Where has this product been all my dry skin-ed life!!
Hemp Moisturizer ($12.99)
Even though hemp and CBD come from the same plant they are harvest from two completely different parts. Hemp usually doesn’t contain any THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive component that CBD is known for. This a rich moisturizer that doesn't come off heavy on your skin, its oddly refreshing when used. Hemp is a product that naturally moisturizes your skin without clogging your pores. One thing I want to mention about the product is the scent. It definitely doesn't smell like weed but if your familiar with the scent of hemp you will notice it immediately, its a bit nutty. It fades after the moisturizer is absorbed into the skin.
Glycolic Acid Toner ($10.99)
Toners are the star in my skincare routine. I never skimp out on using one so using this product was high on my to do list . It's basically the step that rids your skin of any dirt or makeup left over from cleansing as well as preping your skin for all the following steps. I am the worst at getting rid of all my mascara with cleansing so toning is my savior. The Glycolic Acid is basically a toner on steroids. This toner is going to draw any impurities out of pores, minimizing them over time and lightly exfoliates the skin. I am immediately left with cleaner, smoother and brighter skin. It is stronger then any other toner I've used, with the exfoliating properties I wouldn't reccomend for those with very sensitive skin but I highly suggest this toner to anyone having problems with larger, congested pores.
If you haven't had the chance to try out anything from The Inkey List, head over to your nearest Sephora to check out everything else they have in their line up. I can't see anyone not being able to pick out a few products that interest them and that would work for their skin type. Happy birthday to The Inkey List, I can't wait to see what you do next!!
